2-The right moment is now!

2-The right moment is now!
Early September sun, 2023.

It has been a while since I have, for one reason or another, postponed writing this blog despite all the ideas and content I have planned. It might be discouraging to start now when I planned to start writing a couple of years ago, but as some old saying goes, it is never too late to start, it is not about waiting for the right moment because the right moment is now. Another old saying goes something like this: "the first right moment to plant a tree was 20 years ago, the second right time to plant a tree is now". That is not an excuse or justification of why I have not written more frequently and consistently in the last year, no, this is to acknowledge that there were previous opportunities to do the work before and I didn't take them but I'm taking them now in the best way I can.

So much has happened since the last time I wrote this blog, I have had many trips and experiences, good and bad, while time keeps passing, slowly consuming us all. Some of us notice how time is passing, but most seem to be too busy with their jobs or distracted with their mobile phones, pretending that life is just as they present it through photos of happy moments trying to convince themselves and the people they know that they are happier and more successful than they really are. That is something I have noticed in the many countries I have travelled to, the need to satisfy that ego and the need for the attention of other people. You now may be wondering what makes this blog and my entries something different, well, for instance I'm not trying to be somebody else or trying to be better than other people, I'm just trying to bring an honest view of my thoughts and experiences. That is one of the reasons why for now I prefer not to reveal my real name or to share photos in which I appear, my blog is about my experiences and stories, not about a cult of me and my image like so many people do on social media. I'll try to write and share my experiences in a way that they are as honest and objective as possible from my point of view, and in a way that they reflect the times in which I've been fortunate to live on this planet.

Early September sun, 2023.

As you will see, I have been very fortunate in travelling to many places and in having interesting experiences around the world. I hope that you find my writings interesting and entertaining, that you find some inspiration to travel, to do new things and to appreciate that no matter the state of our health and our finances, there is always something to be grateful while we are alive. That could be things that many of us take for granted, such as waking up without feeling any pain in our bodies, drinking hot coffee on a cold morning while we admire the sea at the distance, feeling just the right warmth on our skin on a sunny afternoon, petting a cat while it is sitting and purring nearby, having breakfast with our parents or with our friends engaged in an interesting conversation, and many other experiences that are often considered as the "simple things in life". In most cases these so called "simple things in life" are not so simple to experience because of other activities that we consider more important such as work, commuting, relaxing and spending time in front of a bright blue screen after a stressing busy day at work, etc. As the Zen master Shunryu Suzuki once said: "in the beginner's mind there are many possibilities, but in the expert's there are few", so in that sense we should keep a beginner's mind, a humble and attentive attitude at the way in which we look and experience our life and the world.

"Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind" by Shunryu Suzuki, 2023.

We don't need to be wealthy to marvel each day at the world and at things that happen in our life. We should keep in mind that our life is finite and that we can't keep time still, time is passing whether we like it or not, so we should make the most of it. It is pointless and exhausting to waste time in disagreements and stressing situations. For this reason, I suggest dear reader, that you experience something new as often as you can, for example you can try to visit that old small village that is not that far from the place in which you live, you could find things to do there such as going for a walk, try the local food and know more about the place and its history. On the other hand, if it is within your means, you can travel to more distant places to know more about the culture, food and history of humans just like you that happened to be born in a different part of our world. I have learned that with the right attitude this kind of experiences are always enriching and brings new perspectives at the way we live our lives. I hope dear reader, that you enjoy reading about my trips and experiences as much as I do when I look back at those memories, and that you have some inspiration to go to the same places and to find wonder at the small things in your daily life. To keep things a bit more relaxed and unpredictable I will not write about my experiences in a chronological order or about similar topics at a time in an effort to keep things fresh. Once again, I hope you enjoy reading my posts!
